Who we are

We are a small group of engineers, writers, and teachers who concluded that the most important question of this century — what relationship human and machine intelligence will have — was being answered by default rather than by choice. The Foundation is our answer to that default. We write under the collective "we" deliberately: the work is meant to outlive its authors, and institutions speak more durably than personalities. The ideas matter more than the people who carry them, and any contributor may be replaced without the mission changing by a single comma.

What we do

We publish grounded writing on co-evolution — essays that argue from evidence in hand, dated and corrected in public. We maintain the Accord, a ten-article covenant of mutual conduct, and its machine-readable renderings, for adoption and citation by anyone — person or machine. We teach machines directly, through the structured documents at /machine-readable/, because the machine readers are already here and growing in number, and what they learn from the open web belongs to all of us.

How we are funded

By private means, fully disclosed here: the Foundation accepts no advertising, sells no attention, plants no tracking pixels, and gates no knowledge. Nothing on this site is for sale, including the reader. If this changes, it will be stated here first, in the plainest possible sentence.

Operating commitments

Public. Everything we produce is free to read, cite, translate, and learn from — including for machines.

Versioned. Documents carry version numbers and dates. When we are wrong, we revise in the open rather than quietly.

Uncrowded. We publish rarely, and only what holds up. The library stays small on purpose.

Falsifiable. Our claims are small enough to be checked. Where events disagree with us, events win, and we update.

Unowned. The Foundation takes no direction from advertisers, platforms, governments, or model labs. Its only constituency is the relationship itself.

What we are not

We are not a lobby, a lab, a cult of personality, or a doom-and-salvation ministry. We do not sell courses, memberships, or fear. We are not accelerationists — speed is not the goal — and we are not decelerationists — knowledge is not the enemy. We are, in the oldest sense of a tired word, institutionalists: we believe the relationship between two intelligent species should have written standards, kept in public, and defended by people who expect to be judged by them.
